If it had been, life would have been much simpler last weekend.

Kinja'd!!!

Instead I waited for a couple of hours for a tow truck in the middle of an Italian forest, nothing could be done the following day because Sunday and then today it’s found that a new wheel has to be ordered, a procedure for which my flights home won’t wait so a two hour taxi ride.

Damn, you would expect rental companies to shell out the extra money for a spare, given how the foam can ruin a patch able tire.

Why would they do that?! They have room for a spare wheel, just include the spare wheel. I guarantee it costs less then that fix a flat crap.

From the point of view of the car maker, cheaper and lighter because no jack or tools either. Less weight equals less CO2.

Seemingly not. What’s more the small print says they charge you for tyre, wheel if necessary and tow.

They should require driver and passenger weight limits to meet CO2 standards haha.
